Wallace Medical Concern: Patient Relations Representative

header4

These past few weeks the BilingualHire team has been working diligently with The Wallace Medical Concern leadership team on helping ramp up their bilingual staff. Wallace is a volunteer organization providing neighborhood-based, urgent health care services and referral assistance to Portland and Gresham residents who face barriers to care. Mission: Founded in 1984 by Dr. James Reuler, a physician with the Veteran's Administration, and made possible by a bequest from local businessman, Edwin B. Wallace, the organization believes that no one should be excluded from quality health care. The Patient Relations Representative: The Patient Relations Representative works directly with the public and community welcoming them and processing their information. While the position announcement goes into more detail I want to highlight a few that should be mentioned: someone who understands the safety net clinic model--its importance--but, can easily grasp big concepts like FHQC … [Read more...]

Don’t Let Schooling Interfere with Your Education

IMG_3606

Mark Twain once said, “I have never let my schooling interfere with my education.” When I dropped out of Mount Vernon High School (MVHS) and went to work for LaConner’s Olympic Fish Company full-time offloading and receiving salmon, cleaning and grading them, and packaging them in ice for shipment I was constantly learning about the product, teamwork, business environment and everything else that goes with creating value out of salmon----and this prepared me for the next assignment. Yes, finally graduating from MVHS was a prerequisite for attending Skagit Valley College (or any community college), and community college a prerequisite for attending Oregon State University (or any university) and all this formal schooling has been important but its also important to learn outside of the box. What are we reading and learning online? Which blogs are we subscribed to? Which TEDtalk fascinates us the most? What volunteer projects are we starting or are engaged in that fulfill our … [Read more...]

The Ones Who Make the Sale and the Unfortunate.

Everyday an office has to send a potential client/customer to another place, due to a lack of bilingual personnel on the team that can make & and deliver the sale, is an unfortunate sale loss. But we could avoid it. Sure, some offices believe they can't afford it. But what's worst? Not hiring and not being able to ever make the sale or hiring and making the sale? – David Molina is the Founder and CEO of BilingualHire, a bilingual (Spanish/English) staffing company and you can find him on Twitter. … [Read more...]

BilingualHire Website Old vs New and Cache.

We recently switched over to the current, clean, classic feel (we're still not satisfied and we're going to build something even better) that shows both our real-time Twitter & Facebook feed. Yesterday, evening I looked at our website and saw the old one from my MacBook. Not to worry I spoke to our hosting company (where our website is hosted) and they assured me that we're good to, whether we're using Firefox or Google Chrome. The issue however sometimes is in the cache. Clear the cache and you should be fine. Again, if you see our Job Portal on what temp positions are avail you're fine. If you don't, refresh screen, and clear cache if that fails. Leave a comment below if you still have an issue and we'll look into it. Thanks for your feedback. … [Read more...]

The Groom from Within Organizations

Nearly every organization be it political, private or public sector, military or non-profit promotes from within, with some variations, i.e. you worked on Capitol Hill, Legislature or other senior federal position, but all in all its a groom from within culture. Some of this has to do with the 800 pound gorilla in the room. So how do I get promoted to more responsibilities? It means that you must show initiative, work smart, improve the organization and demonstrate the capacity to lead & work w/ teams, oversee budgets, manage people, and through your ideas bring more business in or serve more people-- but it means you have to have something to show for. If no one knows what you do or what your capable of turn it around and demonstrate that your capable of doing more. That said, nearly every organization promotes from within. That's a good thing. That's where you come in. If your goal is to be president, director, manager, operations officer, general officer, etc it's … [Read more...]

Not Bilingual? Not a Problem. Someone In OSA Can Help.

Fact: BilingualHire is in the business of staffing bilingual (Spanish/English) professionals. Fact: BilingualHire is a proud member of both the Oregon Staffing Association (OSA) & at the national level, the American Staffing Association (ASA). Fact: while we may not be able to place you if you're not fully bilingual, for instance fluent in both Spanish & English, no worries because if you are looking for employment (or know someone that is) & ready to work (or needs additional hours), at BilingualHire we can directly connect you with someone within the OSA & ASA family that can certainly help you. For instance, today I was speaking with a Portland business owner in a specific industry who doesn't have openings within her office but has a resume for an individual highly qualified ready to go. I told this individual to send the candidate my way because if we cannot bring them on as a BilingualHire Associate we'll personally direct them to one of our colleagues … [Read more...]
